Calvet Nkomo, a 45-year-old guide at Camp Somalisa in Hwange National Park takes his guests to a famous waterhole in Ngweshla. They had no idea what surprise they would receive with this breathtaking sight. We came across a baby elephant wandering alone in a waterhole. I explained to my guests that such elephants tend to be vulnerable to lions.
Ten minutes later, Humba, a male lion, first made a mock attack, but on a second attempt, attacked the elephant by jumping on its back. The lioness joined him and everything happened very quickly. Together, they brought down the elephant quickly. Then their whole pride joined the party.
