The clip was recorded by tour guide Matthew Roach at Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Specifically, an injured zebra was trying to escape from 5 hyenas. However, due to their superior numbers, they quickly surrounded the poor animal.
Immediately afterwards, a hyena climbed up and grabbed the zebra’s neck. Although it tried to struggle and bite back, it was quickly taken down by the remaining hyenas. The scene ended when more hyenas came to eat the zebra.
“After about 45 minutes, we decided we had seen enough and returned to camp. It was a conflicting scene, both impressive to witness a unique hunt and sad to see a herd of hyenas ate zebras alive,” Roach recounted.

For a long time, mischievous hyenas have been labeled cowards and scavengers. In fact, they are powerful predators, not only scavenging but also regularly hunting and killing prey within their range.
According to observations, 95% of hyenas’ food comes from what they hunt. They even kill and eat lion cubs, leopard cubs and other predators when the herd is strong enough and has many members.
