The lion is known to be the most feared predator in the savannah of Africa. Their primary prey is other mammals, especially medium to large ungulates, including plains zebra, wildebeest, wildebeest, and antelope. Gemsbok, giraffes, hippos and even juvenile African bush elephants.
With an unlimited menu, they can kill any animal. It is this that makes the lion become an arch enemy with many animals, including buffalo.
However, the African buffalo is not an animal that is easily bullied. In some cases, when being hunted by lions, buffaloes are ready to fight to defend themselves, or run to rescue their fellows. They are even ready to gore any animal that intentionally threatens its life.
