Pulled together to tease the male lion, the leading buffalo had to pay the price for choosing the wrong object

The clip was recorded by biologist Anton van Loggerenberg at the Manyeleti reserve, South Africa. Specifically, despite observing a male lion hiding at the base of a dry tree, the buffalo herd still deliberately approached to “taunt” the predator. Seeing that, the lion immediately rushed to attack, causing the whole herd of buffaloes to run away.

Thanks to his speed and bravery, the lion easily caught a buffalo in the herd. Despite trying to struggle to escape, the unlucky buffalo still could not escape the sharp teeth of the lion.

Finally, after a while of struggle, the male lion also defeated the buffalo and got a hearty meal.

Lions are known to be the most feared predator in the savannah of Africa. Their primary prey is other mammals, especially medium to large ungulates, including plains zebras, wildebeest, wildebeest, and antelopes. Gemsbok, giraffes, hippos and even juvenile African bush elephants.

When hunting, lions also follow the herd under the main lead of the lioness. Each lioness will have a unique role in the herd. The fastest way to kill prey that African lions often use is to attack the respiratory system of the prey, bite or tear the throat.
