This rare clash took place in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka. In the clip, a gray Langur monkey (Semnopithecus) is drinking water when suddenly a crocodile bites its hand. Suddenly attacked by the enemy, the monkey tried to struggle but still could not escape the sharp teeth of the swamp assassin.

Finally, after more than an hour of fighting, the monkey’s arm was bitten off by the crocodile. Although he was lucky to escape, with the wound the crocodile caused, it was difficult for this monkey to survive.

The Swamp Crocodile or Persian Crocodile, scientific name Crocodylus palustris, is a species of crocodile found in the Indian subcontinent and surrounding countries.

They eat fish, other reptiles, and small mammals such as monkeys. In fact, vertebrates that come to drink at the water’s edge may be their prey, and may be caught and dragged into the water and drowned.

Adults sometimes hunt large mammals such as deer, including deer weighing 225 kg and buffalo weighing up to 450 kg. At night they can hunt on the ground, lying in ambush near forest trails.
