Things looked pretty bleak for a young buffalo swarmed by hungry lions in northwest Tanzania, but with a little help from friends, the lion’s attack was thwarted.
At first, an adult buffalo defyly tries its best to shield its young from lions and fight predators as long as it can. But after a lion pounced on the calf, the cavalry came to the rescue.
Initially, the buffalo ran away from the oncoming lions, leaving behind the calf and the adult, presumably its mother. Once the lion pounces on the young, the adult buffalo also chases the lion, along with the rest of the herd, appearing out of nowhere to help the lion run away.
“This is completely bogus,” Häntzschel told Caters News Agency. “This is amazing and you don’t get much of a chance to see something like it.
“To see the lions is not so epic, but to see them fight is great. The buffaloes were very brave to save themselves.”
At this time, the buffalo herd returned to rescue the mother buffalo and her children.
so the lions failed in this hunting trip, fortunately the buffalo cubs escaped death thanks to the solidarity of the whole herd.
