People filmed an Asian lion attacking a male buffalo in Junagadh, Gujarat state, western India, on January 2. In the dark, the hunter bites the neck of the bull. It resisted causing the lioness to face some difficulties. However, the struggle did not last long. The lion wins, drags the prey behind the bushes and disappears.

The Asian lion is a subspecies of lion that is slightly smaller than the African lion. They were formerly distributed from the Middle East to India, but now only about 500 live in the Gir forest.

In the wild, they usually live for 16-18 years, adults weighing 135-230 kg.

Asian lions live in herds, in which females are the main hunters. They spend most of their time resting or sleeping, about 20 hours a day.

They often hunt at night, targeting prey such as deer, buffalo, wild boar, and sometimes camels. When determining the target, the lion will sneak up, then chase and kill the prey. The success rate of hunting trips is only about 1/4.
