The clip was filmed by WildEearthTV channel and recorded at the Mara River, Masai Mara National Park, Kenya. Specifically, while swimming across the river and preparing to reach the other bank, a wildebeest was attacked by a river crocodile. The 272kg Nile attacked.

“When the wildebeest approached the other side, a crocodile was waiting,” said Emily Wallington, co-founder of WildEarthTV.

Having its tail bitten by the swamp killer, the antelope still refused to give up and tried to move forward. After a while of effort, the antelope was able to drag the crocodile to shore. At this point, the crocodile let go of its prey and slowly dived into the water. The struggle lasted 25 seconds and the wildebeest miraculously escaped the hunter.

Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) live in large herds in East Africa. The most famous herds occur in the Serengeti region of Tanzania and Kenya. In these places, the number of migrating wildebeests reaches more than 1 million. Along with hundreds of thousands of gazelles and zebras, the journey of the wildebeest is perhaps the largest animal migration on land.

Like many other herbivores, they often “play the role” of prey in battles with other predators. The only dangerous weapon it possesses is the sharp horns on its head.

According to statistics from zoologists, the survival rate of wildebeests from birth to adulthood is very low. However, in reality, the wildebeest is not an easily subdued opponent.
